Optional Load Testing
In the past, one of the most difficult situations to troubleshoot and
identify was the presence of high resistance connections, which may be
the result of a loose cable connection or corrosion. A simple
continuity test will not reveal these problems, and the only way to
identify them is by loading the connection and looking for a voltage
drop.
The PD Tester has an internal load banking option that loads the cable
and identifies unexpected voltage drop. The results are displayed
graphically for easy identification of poor connections. When a voltage
drop excedes the expected value for the size of the wires and length of
the cables, the bargraph display for that conductor displays in Red.
